Sculpture - The Owl and the Awestruck Mouse

Crafted by woodworker Susan Dinkelacker of Whangarei, this piece was a part of our Creating with Kauri exhibition.  Artists were given a piece of kauri timber from the museum's stores to create whatever they wished.  A helicopter pilot in a previous life, Susan's awe of the perfect contours of an owl’s wing in flight was her inspiration for this piece.  It measures 3890mm across x 220mm high.
